Basic Guidelines for Electronic Files

1. Platform:
Macintosh or PC accepted.

2. Application Files:
Make sure all files are accounted for. We support most recent Quark, PageMaker & InDesign programs.

3. Fonts:
Send all screen and printer fonts (never stylize), embed all fonts in Postscript and PDF files. Substituting our fonts for yours can cause reflow.

4. Color Images:
Send each color graphic as a CMYK eps at 300 dpi. RGB must be converted to CMYK (This is important because your color can change drastically). Please indicate any spot Pantone colors being used and wanted. Convert all Pantone colors to process when applicable.

5. Black and white images:
We support most recent PhotoShop and Illustrator programs. Send all continuous tone images at 300-dpi and all line images at 900-dpi minimum.

6. Hard Copy Documentation:
Text lasers allow us to randomly check the pages of your file. Files sent in without a laser will force us to output blind. All lasers should be output at 100% size. Only output laser after all editing. Color proofs must always be CMYK. You can’t trust the color of any RGB proof.

7. Crops:
Crops help us to determine your page’s position and margins but can lead to a rejected file if the crops are in the way. All crops must be offset at least 16 points. Crops not offset on PDF files that bleed will allow those crops to print on the finished page.

8. Bleeds:
Extend all bleeds at least 1/8” past the document’s finish trim.

9. Covers:
Always send cover in as 1 piece (never 3 pieces). Call your CSR and we will make a cover layout for you.
